Oh, the fun of felt material!! You can do so many things with it. This is my latest fall decor attempt...and it is multipurpose....not only is it decoration, it is interactive. Love it!! Here's what I did:
With a little help from some heat-and-bond and an old dry-erase calendar:
I ironed that felt right onto it. I used some brown for dirt/grass and some blue for the sky.
Give your dirt a little depth and add some gently rolling hills. Then, I started making the felt characters!! Munchkin was a wake and involved in the process, so of course this wasn't just a fall-themed project....it was a DINOSAUR fall-themed craft. They find their way into a lot of our crafts. :-) We got pumpkins......and, a VOLCANO!!!!
Where would the Great Valley be without Littlefoot and Petrie?? Nowhere. That's right.
That yellow swirling vortex (thanks hubby for naming it so *aptly*) is actually a round hay bale. You know you see it. Just not necessarily very well.
(Kinda looks like one of sir pumpkins eyes is getting pulled into the not-a-vortex, but that's beside the point)
Witches are essential.
A little tangerinish paint for the frame and there you have it!! The perfect interactive fall decoration.
I'm sharing this project at these delicious linky parties:

This is so fun!! I'll have to make one for my little guy. I think he'd love the added dinos and volcano. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteooo, what a great idea. This is too cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I really like this idea! Felt is so versatile and cheap enough to really have fun with it! Your hay bale looks just like one out my window, so it's perfect! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHow much fun is that. Cute too. I bet everyone will be playing with it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun use of an old dry erase board! Great job!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!! I LOVE it!!
ReplyDeleteCan I come over to your house and play. :)
"yellow swirling vortex" way too funny.
ReplyDeleteThis is really cute. I love all of your characters.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to A Crafty Soiree! Your fall scenes put mine to shame, so much more detailed then mine. Please join us next time too!
ReplyDeleteCUUUTE! (Stopping by from Finding Fabulous)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! what a fun idea for the kids. Mine would love this, one for every season would be adorable too!
ReplyDeleteI love this fall scene. You could do the poem: 5 Little Pumpkins sitting on a gate. The dinosaurs are great too. I did a Dr. Seuss felt board if you have time to take a look. http://www.obseussed.com/2010/10/halloween-life-size-jack-skellington.html
ReplyDeleteThis takes me back a few years. I remember doing something similar although not quite as good as yours for my daughter's themed 5th birthday. She was all about ballet so we did a Swan lake party and I made a felt board and told the story with felt characters. I loved this kind of thing as a kid. They did it at our story hour at the library so I though the girls might like it too. They did. :0
ReplyDeleteI'm sure yours are thrilled.
