Thanksgiving Centerpiece

While I was bumbling around on Pinterest for centerpieces I found this really elegant picture of a wheat bundle wrapped and slightly twisted and set up as a centerpiece in the middle of a table. Well, I thought....Thanksgiving!! That's perfect. I wish I could show you that picture....I didn't actually *pin* it, I just stored it in my mind. :-)
I searched everywhere (if everywhere=the Dollar Store) for some wheat. I knew I could probably find some at a greenhouse or at Michaels....but I also knew I wouldn't like the price. At all. So, I brainstormed a bit and thought, HEY!! Actually, it was more like HAY!!. Hay would totally work.
And, I was right!

Hay isn't just for horses any more my friends.

I collected all kinds of hay tops from a field that had gone by without being fully hayed and I trimmed them and gathered them in a bundle. I used some linen and some burlap material (with a little hot glue) to secure them in place and then I just twisted above and below the fabric in opposite directions. I love it as a center piece.
