It's the time of year when everyone is thinking of their family and planning special occasions to spend time together. You know what's a real stinker?? When half of your family lives on the other side of the country. I grew up in a family of 4 kids, and currently two of my siblings live in California while the other half of us live in Maine. So, they are LITERALLY on the other side of the United States.
So I've been trying to think of a special gift those nieces and nephews of mine.....
and I came up with it.
Photobooks!!!
My nieces and nephews are still young enough to not remember family living in other states very well. The best way to fix that situation is to have a photobook of all of us who live in another state, so that we don't seem that far away in person. I think it's the perfect gift for young kids.....and I plan on making it fun. Lots of goofy pictures, funny subtitles, and pets included too. I think it will help make us all feel a little closer, even though we're thousands of miles away.
Shutterfly has a video called Shutterfly Photo Books: The Best Gift Ever and it's about the reverse of what I've been talking about.....in their story, it's a child who gives a photobook to his Grandmother. This gift can work in so many ways.
I'm hosting a giveaway for an 8x8 Hardcover photobook (20 Pages long) and I will be picking TWO WINNERS!!! Wooooohooooo!!!!!!!!

Awe, what a sweet idea. Thank you for the opportunity... The scene that reminds me most of something in our family is the cookies... there is a lot of time spent in the kitchen :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs, antonella :-)
The baking scene reminds me of making Italian Zeppolis with my grandmother during Christmas Season. She would leave the dough to rise on the oven door for hours, then we would fry them in the oil and sprinkle the powdered sugar on top (the sugar shaker in the video is what sparked my memory - funny right?)

We just got married so I would choose the wedding books to send to our parents as a Thank You and Keepsake. I think I would choose the Floral Wedding One. I love Shutterfly.

ReplyDeleteMy son runs to me when I pick him up form school everyday, he hugs me and although that moment is something that is so common and that we share so often I still love it! So the young boy running to his grandmother is my favorite, although the baking one too is pretty farmiliar, lol.

ReplyDeleteVintage floral is my favorite style. THanks for the giveaway. I wanted to make one of these for my mother in law for Christmas. I'm running a little late but I know she would love it!
ReplyDeleteThis entire video reminds me of my life. My grandma raised me while my parents worked day and night shifts trying to make ends meet. We moved away from her when I was 13 and every time I went to visit I would bring her pictures of my life up in Sacramento. When it was time to leave, both of us would try not to cry and she would give me an "Eskimo" kiss to remember her by until next time. When the video said "moving day", I actually got a little choked up!
