Here is a really simple Easter Egg craft for you OR your children! These eggs look fantastic and are a fun take on the traditionally smooth and shiny Easter Egg.
Here is what you need:
Stryofoam Eggs
Wool Roving (many colors)
Hot Soapy Water
Cold Water
Needle Felting Supplies (optional)
~Take your egg and wrap a long piece of roving around it, try to cover it from different directions. You can add multiple pieces of roving if you'd like at this point. I used some needle felting to tack them into place to make the wet work easier, but you don't have to do that if you don't want to.
~Place the roving covered egg in the hot soapy water and roll it around in your hands, making sure you get a lot of soap and water on it every now and then. The wool fibers will slowly begin to shrink around the egg. Once the roving is feeling a little more firmly in place, you can be more wild with the agitation of the wool... in the beginning you'll have to go pretty easy.
~Every now and then, dunk your egg into the cold water, to shrink the fibers and make the process go fast. Then go back to the hot water.
~At the end of the process your have a wet, roving covered egg. lay it is the sun to dry for a bit.
~ (*This part is for ADULTS only*)Then, if you want, and have the supplies you can use your needle felting tools to add some decorations to your eggs:
Like this pansy I added:
But, you don't have to do that. You can leave them just as they are and they look beautiful!
