Kiddo Craft-o's: Shaving Cream

Ever done any marbelizing with shaving cream?? This craft is a blast for kiddo's. Here's what you need:

Shaving Cream
Disposable aluminum pans
Food coloring
spoon
craft sticks
straight piece of card board
Sheet of Aluminum foil (bigger than the piece of paper)
plain white paper

~Cut paper to a size small enough to fit into the pan.
~Lay out the sheet of aluminum foil
~Fill the pan with shaving cream and smooth it out flat with the spoon.
~Drop several different colored drops of food coloring onto the cream (you need only 2 or 3 drops per color).
~Using the craft sticks, swirl around the shaving cream until you make a pattern that you like.
~Press the paper (lightly) down onto the color pattern and leave it there for 10 seconds.
~Pull the paper off and set it down on the sheet of aluminum foil, shaving cream side up.
~Use the cardboard to scrape the remaining shaving cream off the paper and either save it for further use or toss it, mood depending. :-)
~The marbelized cream should last at least 4 or 5 times, then you'll either want to add more drops or get new cream.
**My most important tip for this craft is to make sure the children understand that they are playing with Shaving Cream and NOT Whipped Cream. :-)
**I used some Neon food coloring I found at Hannaford....never seen it before but the kiddo's loved the colors!!

Seal Ya Later!!!!

For the Munchkins birthday I made an interactive card with a harbor seal motto. Everything is seals in our house right now.....Munchkin decided a Seal Party would be perfect. :-) More of my ideas on that to come soon!! Instead of doing a traditional photo tutorial I thought I'd explain it briefly in video....it's a really simple card that doesn't take hardly any time at all to make.

Bleh, glad I got that over with. :-) I find myself fascinated and horrified at the sound of my own voice on video....hmmm.
This card was inspired by MsChiddy on you tube:

Northern Maine Camping Trip

We took the Munchkin camping for the first time a few weeks ago. I have so many pictures I have been meaning to share with you!! We stayed on a lake in the shadow of Mt. Katahdin. It's such a good feeling to ditch the computer and phone and head out to a place where you can guarantee some solitude.
Red Brook. The moose who came out to our campsite would travel down this stream to come to the lake.
See the moose track (above)??
I woke up early one morning and got some pictures of land around our campsite.
We had some doggy friends join us on the trip.

We had some other friends as well:

We spent some quality time around the campfire.
But first, we had to get it started. This trick was ingenious....should your campfire be too soaked to start easily....you can always utilize your air pump (once you have filled your mattress):
Good thinking, Dad. :-)

We saw an amazing moon rise as well:

Of course, we sang some songs around the campfire.
We skinny dipped (sorry, no pictures!!) :-p
And, then we retired to our tents each night. If only we had some bedroom furniture sets to fit our tents, right?? Well, the air mattress had to do for a couple nights. It was definitely worth a few days of uncomfortable sleep in trade for the peace and solitude of a campsite in northern Maine.
