My 1st Applique Attempt with Heat N Bond

Be sure to link up to my party this Monday, A Marvelous Mess!! The project I favor the most will be featured on my sidebar until the next party!!

For a baby shower  I attended this weekend I decided to make some onesie appliques!! So much fun and so simple. A great way to use up some random fabric, too. This were a hit with the mom-to-be and all the giggling gaggle of gals oooo-ing over the gifts. :-) All these took were some heat-n-bond and some random fabric to apply it to. You have got to try this (or, have you already and I'm the last to the party?? Probably.) Still, I'd like to show you the rest of my project. I made them deliberately simple and in kiddo style.

To wrap these up, I used tissue and crepe paper and did something just a tad funky:

I packaged the onesies in tissue paper and taped the flaps in place, then I took the crepe paper and wrapped it quite a few times around the middle of the package (taping the end and beginning of the strip in place).
If you'd like to make the lotus type flower I created, here's what you'll need:

Hot Glue
Crepe Paper (trimmed to the shape you see above)

Make a square shape out of an extra piece of paper:

Pinch a petal and glue it onto the side of the square, repeat until you reach the end of the outer edge:

The add another layer on top of it. And a layer on top of that one:
Then, to make the middle of the flower, grab a strip of crepe and fold it in half lengthwise. Begin twisting and hot gluing it into a spiral shape.
Glue that spiral to the center of your flower.
It's a sweet little flower.
Don't forget to join my link party this Monday, the21st.....the Project I choose as my favorite of the week will feature on the top of my sidebar until the next party!!

Get A Free Bellybag!!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of CryoCell International. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you ever heard of Cord Blood Banking?

www.Cryo-Cell.com

Cryo-cell has helped more than 230,000 clients worldwide preserve their newborn's umbilical cord blood for potential use against many diseases. Not only is Cryo-cell an expert in Cord Blood banking, but they are also leading the way on finding less controversial way of preserving stem cells.

Cord Blood is the blood remaining in the umbilical cord and placenta after your baby is born. It was once thought to be useless and was discarded after birth.... now scientists have discovered that it is a rich source of stem cells and can actually be a viable alternative to bone marrow!! In fact, the body accepts the stem cells from cord blood much more easily than it does that of bone marrow.

What does this mean? It means that if your child ever contacts a disease that needs to be treated with chemotherapy or radiation, which has a very negative impact on the immune system, the cord blood can be used to help strengthen your child and repopulate the blood. Also, your child's cord blood has a one in four chance or matching a sibling, which is a an amazing thing considering how hard it can be to come by a bone marrow match.

New medical technology could even use these cells to rebuild cardiac tissue, repair damage due to stroke or spinal cord injuries and reverse the effects of such diseases as multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s!! The research is still in it's early stages but the possibilities are very promising.
