Boston Terrier Birthday Cake

Disclosure: I receive payments for people referred (and you will too if you use Social Spark!)

Somebody asked me to make them a Boston Terrier birthday cake.

Here is what I came up with:

Inspired by my very sweet, but not edible, Chloe Biscuit.

That's a super goofy picture of her. But, Boston's eyes really do kinda "pop" out (especially when they see something of interest....or are carried into a room where they had just *pooped on the rug* and know they're in for it). I was inspired to make my cake Boston have those eyes.

The cake is a alternating yellow and chocolate layers with a very simple vanilla buttercream frosting.
To make the ears, I just used leftover pieces of cake (I made a whole bunch of 9" ones and then trimmed them to the size I wanted) that were triangular in size and (with a little frosting) stuck them to circular top layer.

The grey frosting is just my regular frosting mixed with black tube gel frosting. I used the black gel to decorate the rest of her face and to place little dots around the sides of the layers.
I also used a little edible "pearl" dust and sprinkled it all over to make this cake shimmery.

I even made the parties "goody bags" into "doggy bags" with this stamp:

and this paw print stamp:

Super simple.
The "treats" inside were little safari brand plastic doggies.
And some cow tails, which doesn't follow the theme.... but, darn it all, they just taste good.

Anyone else done a puppy themed Birthday party?

I've got plenty of projects that have been inspired by Chloe:
Bulb Box to Dog Bed

Squeaky Leather Lion Toy

Pallet Bed

I also wanted to tell you about the awesomest blog advertising company out there:

My sister and I are big Steampunk fans.
We dressed in Steampunk for Halloween last year.....
And, I'm betting we'll do it again this year (though I do have an urge to do a Firefly outfit....but that's has some Steampunk style to it anyway).

So, anywho.... I made this for her for her birthday.
It's a plain picture frame with an printed image from the Graphics Fairy
Then lots of fabric rosettes, vintage junky jewelry, lace trim froman old white skirt, and whole lotta hot glue later......and this is what I created. What do you think?
Funky, I know.

Funky, funky, funky.
